All electoral materials for Mbalom ward in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State were in the early hours of Saturday, burnt by armed hoodlums.
“The entire materials are burnt, said Mrs. Ngunan Yongo, the Electoral Officer for the local government.
The incumbent and governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Samuel Ortom, hailed from Gbajimba in Guma.
According to sources, the hoodlums on arrival fired shots in the air before setting on fire the RCM Primary School Aya, housing the materials.
The EO said the materials were yet to be distributed to polling units in the ward when the attack occurred.
Meanwhile, hoodlums also this morning set ablaze the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC ) Centre in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The attack took place at Okposi Umuoghara Community Secondary School at about 2:15am, venue of the registration centre (RAC) for INEC in the state.
